Address: 3140 Woodside Road, Woodside (click the address to show it on a map).

Directions: Head southwest on Woodside Road from Highway 280 for just over a mile on the right side.

Showcase Features: The Native Plant Garden was established in 1970 on land owned by the Town of Woodside. It is located behind the San Mateo Branch Library. Marion Gallagher along with members of the Woodside-Atherton Garden Club and town residents envisioned a garden of environmentally sensitive and water-wise native plants. They raised funds locally and created the garden using an overall design provided by local landscape architect Jack Stafford. The garden has a redwood grove, oak woodland area and a sunny chaparral area. The garden is maintained by club members.

Other Garden Attractions: The Woodside-Atherton Garden Club has rejuvenated the garden. Overgrown trees, shrubs and plants were pruned or replaced. Over 1000 plants were added. Underground drip irrigation was changed to micro sprinklers, and gravel and compost was added to the beds. A focal point area was planted with California native grasses and bulbs.

The garden is enjoyed by library patrons, local school children and gardeners interested in native plants. In addition to the Going Native Garden Tour day the garden is open during library hours Monday through Saturday. Garden access is through the library.
